It was so nice meeting so many wonderful Grandparents last week! It was great to see how excited the kids were when their Grandmas, Grandpas, and special guests walked in the room. I was able to get a few pictures to share with you. The kids also did a fantastic job singing and opening the program on both days. Way to go third grade!
We had a beautiful day on our field trip to Taltree! The kids seemed to really enjoy the hike, plants, animals, and games. Make sure to ask your son or daughter about the plants we saw and what they learned! For the last week, we've been talking a lot about fractions. We've been identifying the parts of a fraction and deciding if fractions are equivalent. We've also been exploring these fraction strips.
We have been having some some friendly debates during our writing time lately. Given a topic, the kids were asked to decide what their opinion is. In addition to
We've been working hard at Rocket Math - Addition. Very soon, we will be moving forward to Multiplication. The kids are allowed to take home their Rocket Math folders to practice, but they MUST come back to school the next day. If Rocket Math folders do not come back, they will not be able to participate in our fact practice.
We have started CURSIVE!!! We've been working hard in our handwriting books and starting to learn how to make lower case letters. At the beginning of each week, I will be introducing a few new letters to the kids. Throughout the week, they will have plenty of opportunities to get caught up and finish the pages I've introduced. If, by the end of the day on Friday, they have not completed the assigned pages, it will be coming home for homework. I will usually not assign any more than 4 or 5 pages at a time. If their books are coming home on Fridays, please work though the pages with them and make sure their handwriting is neat and easy to read! As always, make sure to ask your son or daughter about the letters they're learning and see if they can show you what they look like! Happy Writing :0)
